Carmen Miranda was born Maria do Carmo Miranda da Cunha on February 9, 1909. She was a Portuguese-born Brazilian samba singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was active from the 1930s to her death in 1955. She was nicknamed “The Brazilian Bombshell” and was known for her signature fruit hat outfits that she wore in her American films. Hats were special to Carmen as she designed hats in a boutique before becoming famous for wearing them in films.
In the 1943 movie, “The Gang’s All Here”, Carmen introduced her famous fruits hat when she sang, “The Lady in the Tutti-Frutti Hat”. The hat was a turban-style hat that was adorned with pineapples and other tropical fruit. Fruit hats soon became a trademark of Carmen and in 2014, The Gang’s All Here was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
In honor of Carmen Miranda, we hope you will don your favorite Tutti Frutti hat and enjoy this over-the-top layered slime that can be topped with the 2.5 oz whip cream scented slime, pineapple Fimo slices, and a scented Firmasof™ pineapple charm. You may just find yourself busting a few samba moves.
