RETRO Retrospect

A walk down the baking aisle of any grocery store will show a variety of Jiffy Mix products.  Chelsea Milling Company has been producing the mixes since 1930.  Jiffy Mix was created as the first prepared baking mix in the United States by Mable White Holmes.  The story is that her twin boys invited a friend to lunch one day.  When she opened the bag lunch, his single father had already prepared for him, she was surprised at the poor quality of the bisque in the bag.  Then she thought about how much time and effort it took to make biscuits in the late 1920s.  She decided it would be nice to have a product that could save people time in the kitchen and one that even inexperienced cooks could easily make in a jiffy.  She created an “All-Purpose mix” and now there are over 22 different mixes easily recognized by the small box with the bright blue lettering.  Their corn muffin mix accounts for 93% of the retail sales.

    Okay, so this smells EXACTLY like Jiffy cornbread batter. Plus the scent is strong, now that wasn’t a turn off for me but it might be for some people. However this is my favorite slime out of all four slimes I first bought from this store. The cloud slime fluffs up very nicely and is so fun to stretch and pull. Definitely one of the most unique slimes in my collection.

    Very fluffy, wet, and fun to play with. Doesn’t really smell like cornbread, though; the scent is more of a pleasant vanilla.

    The scent was too overwhelming and unpleasant it was unfortunately a miss for me. I had to discard it upon opening but the packaging and idea are super cute.

    Best cloud slime ever! I love a good cloud slime and this one is my all-time favourite. The smell and softness are just wonderful. It’s super soft, like handling mashed potatoes, then it falls into a fluffy, delicious drizzle.

    I think savory smells just aren’t for me. To me you can still smell the glue which combined with the cornbread makes it a bit odd. The texture feels a bit wet which I’m not a huge fan of but it has a fabulous drizzle which I love.

    Wow! Smells like cornbread and feels like I am playing with a slime made of cornbread. I got the small size, and it was the perfect size for my smaller hands. One of my favorite slimes.

    It’s just absolutely the stupidest amount of awesome I can handle. Im’ma put it in my purse and smell it when the feeling strikes. And the texture! Incredible! Sadly I can’t play with this unless I’m at home because clouds can be messy.

    This actually came out to be a great cloud slime, and it really does smell like cornbread, which is so weird but impressive.
