Scratch ’N’ Sniff got big because of a clever printing trick: microcapsules—tiny scent bubbles printed right onto the sticker. When you scratch, the bubbles pop and release the fragrance, which made it possible to create collectible, tradeable “sets” that kids in the 80s loved chasing and swapping.
