RETRO Retrospect

Richard Cadbury introduced the concept of selling their ‘fancy chocolates’, known today as assortments, in decorative little boxes. These boxes were adorned with small pictures on the front, designed for children to cut out and preserve in scrapbooks​​. The boxes themselves were considered works of art and were highly beloved by the late Victorians. They served not only as packaging for chocolates but also as boxes for small items, such as buttons, later on.
